Tarifa is one of those places that make any photographer -amateur or professional- feel lucky to be there with a camera in his hands. The light of the Strait, the vastness of the horizon, the cultural contrasts and the life of the wind create unique photographic opportunities at every corner and every moment of the day.
The best moments of the day to photograph
The golden hour
Sunrises at Los Lances beach and sunsets over the Strait of Gibraltar with Africa in the background are legendary photographic experiences. Arrive at least 30 minutes before sunrise/sunset to choose your framing.
Storms
In autumn and winter, storms over the Sound offer dramatic light, double rainbows and clouds that look like painted clouds. The castle wall is the best vantage point to capture the moving sea.
The best photographic spots
