What makes this park special?
The Strait of Gibraltar Natural Park offers something unique: the possibility of walking with simultaneous views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the African continent. On clear days, the Moroccan Rif can be seen with astonishing clarity.
Recommended routes
Los Lances Route (easy, 5 km)
A walk along the beach that passes by the lagoon of Los Lances, a protected wetland where thousands of migratory birds stop. Ideal for families.
Punta Paloma Route (moderate, 8 km)
It borders the coastline from Tarifa to the dunes of Punta Paloma, passing by the Punta Carnero lighthouse. The views over the Strait are spectacular.
Route from Bujeo to Punta Cires Lighthouse (difficult, 12 km)
For the more adventurous, this route along the cliffs of the Strait offers the most impressive panoramic views and the possibility of spotting migrating birds of prey.
Bird watching
Tarifa is one of the best places in Europe to observe the migration of birds of prey. In autumn and winter, millions of birds cross the Strait to Africa: booted eagles, black kites, griffon vultures... An experience that ornithologists from all over Europe come to enjoy.
